Free Zones

What is a Free Zone ?

Free zones are places that are located within the political borders of Türkiye but are considered to be outside the customs territory in terms of the movement of goods. The customs and foreign trade regime applied to goods entering and leaving Türkiye is not applied or partially applied to the goods in free zones.

Namely;

Goods sent from Türkiye to the free zone shall be deemed exported and goods brought from the free zone to Türkiye shall be deemed imported.

Goods brought into the free zone from abroad are exempt from customs duty, value added tax and trade policy measures.

Goods to be sent abroad from free zones are exempt from trade policy measures related to exports.

Foreign trade transactions in free zones are exempt from foreign exchange regulations.

Certain tax incentives are provided for activities carried out in free zones. See here: Tax Benefits
